Port de Soller on the west coast of Mallorca received it's first cruise ship yesterday. The Seabourn Quest anchored just outside the small Majorcan town of Port de Soller and tender boats were used to bring passengers ashore.

Mallorca is a popular destination for cruise ships and the port in Palma is often the berthing place for the huge ships that bring thousands of visitors a year to the island. The much smaller Port de Soller cannot accommodate these huge vessels but the 450 guests aboard the Seabourn Quest were given the unique opportunity to visit the town whilst on a cruise.

Port de Soller brought sand in from elsewhere on the island to construct a beach this summer and the Jumeirah Hotel above the town opened this year bringing new levels of luxury and comfort to the town. Aside from man made beaches and super-hotels, Port de Soller is in it's own right a very pretty town with a fishing and sailing harbour and some good restaurants.

The town is also a perfect place to explore the amazing Tramuntana mountains and the breathtaking countryside that surrounds them.

This may be the start of a new future for Port de Soller - the town has a lot to offer, see for yourself here on our Port de Soller webcam.
