Early summer reservations exceeded in Mallorca Hotels

Hotels in Mallorca stop May reservations to avoid overbooking

featured in News & reviews Author Jane Leitch, Mallorca Reporter Updated

Popular resorts such as Palmanova, Magaluf and Platja de Palma have exceeded booking expectations for early summer.   The Britsh, German and Scandinavian holidaymakers have exceeded hoteliers expectations this May, so much so that many hotels are having to stop taking reservations to avoid overbooking. The ever popular resorts of Palmanova, Magaluf and Platja de Palma are the ones effected by this boost of tourism.    These resorts have not been this busy since they became most popular in the 1980's. The hotels in Magaluf and Palmanova have stopped taking reservations as their main markets in the UK, Sweden and Denmark have already taken hotels to maximum capacity.   Last minute bookings are improving as the weather in the UK has driven more people to book a quick last minute holiday in the sun. Hotel bookings are also looking positive for June and July.    According to the Mallorca Hotel Business Federation the average occupancy of hotels in Mallorca will be higher than in 2012 but this may not be reflected in all areas in the island as some tourist resorts are performing much better than expected.
