The hotel industry on Mallorca has announced that it has seen the best end of season numbers in hotel occupancy since 2007.

This increase has been seen in all the major tourist areas, including Playa de Palma, Magaluf, Alcudia, Can Picafort, Cala Millor and Cala d'Or. September saw an incredible 95% occupancy rate in hotels across the Island, against 88.8% in 2013 and 90.1% in 2012. And although numbers will drop off in to October they are still predicting at least 50% occupancy in most areas.

With a slow start to the season in May the hotel industry is now happy that the increased occupancy levels will be matched by an increase in profitability, which was a major objective for the year. The president of the Hotel Association of Alcudia and Can Picafort, Jaime Horrach, stated that "it will be more profitable because the contract prices were higher. Markets that are working best in September and October are the German and British."

So a lot of happy holiday makers and a lot of happy hotels!
