Mallorca looks to emulate the glitz & glamour of Cannes Film Festival

Palma will host the International European Film Week 19-26th October

The International European Film Week will take place on the island of Majorca this month between the 19th-26th October. Palma Film Commission will take this opportunity to show what Mallorca can offer in terms of filming locations and expertise in the film industry.

The Mallorcan government, Palma's town hall and the film commission have worked together to invest €150,000 in this years film festival. During the annual meeting of the European Film Academy board of directors, the Film Commission of Majorca will take this years International European Film Week to demonstrate Palma's potential to host the European Film Awards in 2016.

So far the film commission have approached producers to ask for their help in making Palma's dreams a reality. This years festival will see production workshops run by the ESCAC (Escola de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya) and representatives from the Bollywood film industry.

During the International European Film Festival nominees for the European Academy Awards will be screened. Famous names in the international film industry are expected to appear at the opening and closing parties to be held in Port Adraino in Calvia, in the south west of Mallorca.
