In just a matter of weeks the Casino de Mallorca is due to open at its new site in the Porto Pi shopping centre, Palma. Turnover for the casino, currently located in Calvia, is expected to double as a result of the relocation to the island's capital. Director, Javier Blasco, hopes visitor numbers will increase given the proximity to both hotels in the Paseo Maritimo and the docking area for large cruise ships.

Around €8.5 million has been invested in creating the glitzy new, 3,000 square metre facility. The casino will offer players a choice of 70 slot machines plus American roulette, blackjack and poker tables, with poker tournaments being organised on a regular basis. A restaurant and two bars bring the capacity for the complex to 800 people.

A July opening is anticipated although the exact date is yet to be confirmed, pending completion of work in the kitchen and final touches to the décor.
