Palma's second running of its Oktoberfest is being held in Sa Riera Park on Cami de Jesus (mid way between the outer and inner ring roads) from 4th to 14th October.

This years festival has increased capacity due to popular demand, and 1,500 German beer lovers will be accommodated in huge beer tents. The expansion has come about as the festival moved from its 2011 location by the seafront to Sa Riera Park, a perfect location for events of this kind.

Opening hours for this event are between 6pm - 12.30am on Mondays - Thursdays, 6pm-2am on Friday, Saturday & public holidays from 12pm-2am, and Sundays from 12pm - midnight.

Organisers hope that throughout the almost three-week long event the tent will see some 50,000 beer lovers pass through the 2000 square metre tent. It's thought that 10% of festival goers will be tourists and organisers are hoping to welcome people from all over to enjoy beer, food and fun.

Prices will range between 8€-10€ for a 1 litre jug of traditional Bavarian beer.

Palma's EMT transport system will operate an increased bus service to encourage users to take public transport rather than taking their car. The bus can be picked up at Placa Espana and various over points in the city, and they will run throughout the hours of the beer festival.

Other Mallorcan Oktoberfests are taking place in Santa Ponsa and Cala Milor.
