Seaweed clear ups a little bit late this year

Seaweed piles up on some beaches and so do the complaints

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Mallorca Editor Updated

Some tourists arriving in Mallorca for an Easter break may have had to contend with diggers piling up huge amounts of seaweed where there would normally be a nice quiet beach to enjoy.

The seaweed accumulates over winter, and is cleared from certain locations in time for the first raft of tourists arriving, but have they left it a bit late to start the clear up this year?

In Camp de Mar and Es Trenc, tourists & residents have been complaining about the accumulation of browning seaweed that excavators have been piling up. The amount of complaints in Camp de Mar led to officials from the Environment Department of Andratx and two heads of business from the clean-up company taking a look at what's been going on, or not as the case may be.
