Short break beach holidays are top of the list for British holiday makers

The latest survey in the UK for overseas holidays has shown that the British prefer short break beach holidays over big city and shopping getaways.

The survey, carried out by ebookers.com, asked how important holidays were in peoples lives. It seems that holidays have become such an important part of people’s lives, that holiday makers are committed to ensuring they do not miss out on their annual overseas breaks. Most were happy to sacrifice other expenses or luxurys so that they could enjoy an overseas summer beach holiday.

Out of the 4000 Brit’s surveyed, 20 percent would sacrifice nights out and 14 percent would go without fancy gadgets and would choose a holiday any day over designer goods. Another 20 percent said that they were even prepared to go into debt to ensure they could go on holiday.

40 percent of those surveyed preferred a beach holiday, 20 percent would chose a shopping break, 27 percent would head to a spa retreat and 26 percent wanted a cultural city break.

All of this is good news for Mallorca, as it fits the bill for all these holiday types. Not only does it have fabulous beaches and brilliant weather, but there’s plenty of shopping in the capital, gorgeous spa retreats throughout the island, and enough history & culture to satisfy any curious tourist.
