"Leave the jumping to the professionals." That was the message from British sport star and Olympic hopeful Tom Daley who is taking part in a campaign to stop British tourists from "balconing" in Majorca. Already this summer there have been three Brits killed in falls from balconies and two serious injuries in the resort of Magaluf. The campaign, launched by the British consul, aims to stop the practice from occurring.

Crossing from balcony to balcony or even jumping from balcony to pool has caused half a dozen deaths a year in the Balearics. With this in mind the British consul for the islands, Paul Abrey, met yesterday at the Son Hugo swimming centre with Tom to launch the campaign that aims to spread the message in the clubs and bars of Ibiza, Menorca and Majorca that balconing can be fatal.

Hopefully the campaign will be a success and this will be the last story we write about falls from Magaluf balconies.
