An Irishman from Athlone, Co Westmeath was the victim who fell from a balcony in Majorca during the early hours of Monday morning. 24 year old Daniel Kenny fell over 20 metres from his balcony in the Mallorca beach resort of Santa Ponsa while on holiday with friends.

According to The Sun Daniel was staying in the Globales Verdemar Apartments in Santa Ponsa and had checked in just hours before the tragedy struck. A spokeswoman from the Department of Foreign Affairs said: "We have few details at the moment of the circumstances surrounding Daniel's death but we are proving assistance to his family."

A police investigation is underway but it is beleived that the authorities have ruled out the idea that Daniel was "balconing" when the tragedy occured.
