Son Prim Vineyard, Sencelles

Award-winning wines gaining an international reputation

featured in Vineyards & estates Updated

Built in 2003, this winery aims to produce award-winning monovarietal wines made to stand the test of time. They are located near Sencelles, between Binissalem and Inca.

Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Prensal, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Merlot vines were replanted here in 1993. The most original of the wines produced by the winery is made using this last varietal: a white merlot. Approximately 50,000 bottles of red wine and 4000 of white wine are produced each year, most of which are consumed in Mallorca.

When winemaker Jaime J. Llabrés talks about wine, his eyes light up, and he refers to it as ‘a fascinating product, surprising and different every vintage. It is the most civilised concoction I know, expressive and communicative... what else can one ask for?’ His philosophy is ‘to make quality wines which are attractive and which help us to enjoy life'.

The current winery was built in 2003 and renovated in 2014, featuring all the latest facilities. Their public wine tastings and vineyard tours take place Monday to Friday at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00 as well as on Saturdays at 11:00 and 13:00 by previous booking only. They also offer wine tastings with Mallorcan tapas and host private events. We recommend you book in advance.

  • "I booked for my wife and I the Wine Tasting with Mallorcan Food at Son Prim. We found when we arrived we were going to be the only people on the tour. No matter, the Staff were very welcoming and most pleased to see us. We had a plate of cured meat, some cheese, bread, olive oil and a little Sobrasada - very delicious. We then proceeded with a tasting of one white and three red wines, sitting outside in the shade next to the vines. The staff explained each wine's grape variety and left us in the lovely peaceful surroundings to enjoy the food and wine - heaven! We then had a brief but informative tour of their winemaking process and facility. I would definitely recommend a visit if you want to learn more about wine or just enjoy a trip out. Well worth a visit!!" - Trip Advisor
  • "We visited the winery as a large friend and family group. Run by a welcoming and engaging family it was clear from the start from the beautiful setting and tasting room that it was something special. With the wine, it got even better with a wonderful selection of wine presented with expertise and passion from the experts. Following a great selection of wine we joined Jaime Jnr. for a tour of the vineyards, met the skilled winemaking team, saw giant vats, bottling room and cellar. Jaime is a fantastic host with a level of knowledge that he was happy to share and translate to wine novices. It was a fantastic and informative afternoon we learned a lot with lots of takeaway wine with us on our departure. Will visit again!" -  Trip Advisor
