featured in Hotels

Based in the Tramuntana World Heritage Mountain Range is the beautiful small boutique hotel of Son Ametler.

This “Finca” (Estate Farm) has recently been fully restored with all the comforts and imaginable conveniences of a five star hotel, including modern bed fittings, air-conditioning, WiFi, jacuzzi baths, Italian stucco bathrooms and a huge pool, in complete privacy.

At Son Ametler, which is named after the Almond trees which dominate the 25 hectares of woods and pastures, that continue to farm olives, fruit trees, herbs and vegetables for use in the hotels kitchen. They are striving to combine typical Mallorquin rural values and stunning scenery with very modern services and facilities.

The team behind the nearby “Finca Hotel Es Castell”, (recently voted as “Spain’s Best Hotel” and featured in the Sunday Times Travel Section, Time Magazine, Lonely Planet Guide, the Guardian and Alistair Sawdays,) are proud to present this new boutique hotel, a higher quality offering at a lower price: The eight double rooms are tastefully decorated with a combination of traditional Mallorcan stone and flagstones, wrought iron and wooden furniture with modern Stainless Steel bathroom fittings and Italian stucco walls, giving guests an environment which is light, comfortable and relaxing, a “balsam for the spirit”.

All rooms include air-conditioning, safes and hair-dryers. Televisions, DVD and Fridges can also be supplied on request. One room is equipped with ramps and wide access doors for disabled people.

The pool

The square outdoor pool (9x9 metres) is set in a private garden surrounded by lush vegetation. There is both a stone terrace and wooden decking where you can position your sun-bed to soak the Mediterranean rays.

The Bar

There is a full service bar as well as a pool honesty bar for drinks and snacks throughout the day.

The Restaurant

This boutique hotel includes a little restaurant where they offer a full buffet breakfast from 08:00 until 10:30, which includes fresh fruit, home-made jams and yoghurts, freshly squeezed juices, a selection of breads and pastries, local hams and cheeses, eggs, bacon, and all that we can think of to make sure you have a memorable start to the day!

Have dinner, three times a week, on the outside terrace (weather permitting). The cuisine consists of a three course menu of typically Mediterranean delicacies. It is produced using the highest quality ingredients, nothing is frozen, all is sourced from the Finca itself or the local markets, and is prepared with the same dedication as in their sister Hotel Es Castell, which has received numerous accolades for its cuisine. Indulge your senses by adding to this gourmet experience fabulous Mallorcan wines, spectacular mountain views, and the sounds of the Mallorcan countryside.

Visitor comments

  • "This lovely old finca, approached via a rural lane and short track, is set in its own grounds with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. The accommodation is currently limited to just a few rooms (but with plans to build an extension) of very good quality, making for an intimate and peaceful experience. The owners, James and Paola, are generous, very considerate and helpful, with many thoughtful special little touches, and this attitude carries over to the other staff and the general atmosphere of the establishment. Breakfast covers a good range considering the size of the hotel and is of excellent quality. Dinner was superb. The hotel thoroughly deserves its success and we would have no hesitation in booking there again." - Trip Advisor
  • "I was there for a retreat and we had the entire place to ourselves. So some things may be different when the place is set up as a proper hotel. This is a very atmospheric and comfortable place with friendly owners (who also own the nearby Vinca Es Castello), a fantastic cook, and everything you would want for a romantic holiday in the Mallorcan mountains." - Trip Advisor
  • "In a tranquil, stunning setting, this little gem is well worth a visit. My husband and I had a week here at the beginning of October and had the most relaxing break with wonderful hospitality, excellent food and great weather. Paola, James and their staff could not have been more helpfull. They went out of their way to make sure you had all you needed. The hotel is exquisitly decorated and our room was comfortable and clean with french doors going out on to a veranda. We swam most days looking out across to the moutains and on many occasions had the pool to ourselves. We had two evening meals at the hotel and would highly recommend them. The food was superb and everything was fresh. The best meals we had during our stay. We look forward to coming back. Highly recommend Son Ametler." - Trip Advisor
  • "A perfect retreat . The hospitality at Son Ametler was outstanding. Poala is the most charming host with an exceptionally competent and friendly staff who made us feel very much at home. The house and gardens are beautiful with wonderful views of the mountains and surrounding olive and almond groves. Food is fresh and sourced locally and it shows. Everything is made on the day and is DELICIOUS. The rooms are individual in design and very comfortable, which makes it difficult to get up and explore the many wonderful walking tracks in the area before returning to laze by the lovely pool before enjoying a superb dinner and bottle of local Mallorcan wine." - Trip Advisor
  • "Booked for 3 nights and stayed for 5!! We were enchanted by the setting, excellent accommodation and excellent food. Paolo, James, Leah, kitchen and cleaning staff were always helpful, so friendly and made our stay very special. Our only regret is that there is not dinner every evening, as the two dinners which we were able to have were exceptional. Breakfast was lovely on the terrace as well and the recommendations for dining elsewhere on alternative evenings were good and very much appreciated. Hopefully it will not to be too long before we return." - Trip Advisor
