The Night Manager was one of BBC's greatest hits this year, and its popularity has been confirmed with no less than 12 Emmy nominations. Filmed on spectacular locations around the island of Mallorca, it tells the story of Jonathan Pine, a night manager turned secret agent working undercover to catch Richard Roper, an arms dealer.

Mallorca is one of the main characters on the six-episode show, which showcased the island's most luxurious hotels, villas and restaurants, including Maricel Hotel, Son Julia Boutique Hotel, Ca's Patro March Restaurant, Sadrassana Restaurant and Bahia Mediterraneo Restaurant. Its wonderful Mediterranean landscapes were also featured in all their splendour, while the beautiful sea promenade at Port de Soller played an important part in the story.

The 12 nominations include not only Best Limited Series, but also Best Lead Actor for Tom Hiddleston, Best Supporting Actor for Hugh Laurie, Best Supporting Actress for Olivia Colman, Best Directing for Susanna Bier, as well as Best Writing and Best Casting in a Mini-Series.

Palma Pictures, a local production company that collaborated with the BBC on the project are "delighted" by the nominations. They will undoubtedly boost Mallorca's profile in the film industry, even if the island is already a firm favourite for film and photography locations.
