The clay tennis circuit is in full swing, and with Rafa Nadal slowly restoring his place as the 'King of Clay' with his wins at Monte-Carlo and Barcelona, Andy Murray has had to up his game on the earthy surface. He has chosen Palma Sport & Tennis Club to prepare for the upcoming Madrid Open, starting on Friday.

According to the Scot, he was invited by former number 1 tennis player and Palma-born Carlos Moyá, who he has known since he was 15, to train with him and Milos Raonic. Moyá became Raonic's coach at the beginning of the year, aiming to improve the Canadian's current 11th position in the ATP classification.

"I was training in Barcelona but Carlos said that he was going to be here training with Milos and that even Rafa (Nadal) might be joining us. So, with the conditions and the weather being far better here than in London, I decided to come to Palma. It has helped me adapt to the surface, clay, and also acclimatize myself for Madrid. Plus being here training with some of the top players in the world all together is great", Murray said.

He was eliminated at the semifinals in Monte-Carlo by his good friend Rafa Nadal two weeks ago, so he is hoping to improve his game ahead of the biggest clay championship of the year, the French Open (aka. Roland Garros), which will start on May 22nd.
