Dog owners in the north of Mallorca will be pleased to have another beach where they can take their dogs to play and enjoy the beach together.

Now declared as an area accessible to dogs the beach of Na Patana, just to the east of the town of Ca'n Picafort, will be open for dogs and their owners all year round. On all the other beaches in the Santa Margarita commune dogs are only allowed in the off season, so November to April, and even then they must be kept on a lead at all times.

At Na Patana dogs must remain on a lead in the first instance but will eventually be allowed to run free on the beach. The rules are clearly explained on the billboard at the entrance to the beach. They are not the first commune to recognise the needs of dog owners and in fact more and more town councils are providing beach access for dogs and ensuring that they can enjoy the beaches of Mallorca without disturbing tourists and sun bathers.
