Es Trenc, a protected natural jewel

The unspoilt beach has been declared Natural Park

featured in News & reviews Author Ana Hernández, Mallorca Editor Updated

Es Trenc is one of the most popular beaches in Mallorca. Located on the south coast of the island, its 2 kilometres of golden sand and turquoise blue waters attract those in search for one of the few wild beaches that remain untouched by tourism in Mallorca.

It was only a matter of time that it became a protected natural park. The regional government has decided to grant a high level of protection to the area between Es Trenc and the wetlands of Salobrar de Campos, very popular among bird watchers. This new natural park has 2,225 hectares of sea and 1,448 hectares of land.

Situated just 6.5 kilometres from Colonia de Sant Jordi, this is definitely a beach worth visiting. Despite its fairly isolated location, it boasts good facilities including sunbeds and straw parasols for hire and restaurants.

Due to its new status, parking spaces near the beach will be reduced to 1,500 (there is a 3€ parking fee). You can also take bus number 530 from Palma's Estació Intermodal, which will take you to Sa Rapita via Playa de Palma, Can Pastilla, S'Arenal and S'Estanyol. From there, during the summer months, there are shuttle buses to Ses Covetes (line 535) which is only 200m from the beach.
