The island is very popular with hikers during the low season

Cyclists first discovered the potential of Mallorca's winding steep roads and its mild weather a few years ago, but now it is the hikers who flock to the island. Attracted to its stunning scenery and the variety of paths catering for all levels, 300,000 walkers are expected to visit Mallorca from October to May.

It is no wonder the island has become a hiking heaven as there are multiple routes to explore, from easy coastal walks to more challenging mountain trails. And the low season seems like the perfect time to try them out, accommodation is cheaper, there are fewer tourists on the island and the weather is still warm and mostly dry.

According to the Balearic director of tourism, around 300,000 hiking enthusiasts will be travelling to Mallorca in 2016 and 2017, mainly arriving from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. You too can join them and take advantage of the island's beautiful routes, read our hiking and walking guide for some inspiration.
