Improvements to Walking Routes in Mallorca

Maintenance on hiking routes & 2 new Environmental agents to protect them

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Mallorca Editor Updated

Some of Mallorca's many hiking routes have been ear-marked for investment to improve safety for walkers and for ongoing maintenance. 2 environmental agents have also been appointed who will be responsible for their upkeep.

Around 400,000 euros has been set aside to make some enhancements to the trails, particularly the long distance routes between Valldemossa to Pollensa and Arta to Lluc. Special consideration has to be given to those routes running through protected areas and nature reserves, such as on the route from Lluc to Arta.

The aim of the new agents will be to protect the rural and natural environment as well as the heritage of these routes for future generations.

The number of hikers in Mallorca's Tramuntana mountains has increased exponentially in recent years, and so investment like this is necessary to keep the trails open and safe for everyone to use.
