Carlos López Daz, from Llucmajor Swim Club, took home the title
Last Saturday was a great day for Mallorcan sport as local triathlon athlete Carlos López Díaz arrived first at the fourth edition of Ironman Mallorca. The competition, which took place in Alcudia, saw the American Jocelyn McCauley triumph in the women's race.
Winning this event was López Díaz's dream, which came true when he crossed the finish line after a little over 8 hours and 26 minutes, almost 6 minutes before the German Markus Farbach. The 33-year-old semi-pro had arrived in 8th place last year.
McCauley, on the other hand, did a total time of 9 hours and almost 12 minutes and was followed by Maja Nielsen, from Denmark, and Tineke Van der Berg from the Netherlands.
