On the evening of Friday the 15th there was a gathering of local artisans showing off their wares in the Joan March gardens in front of the Claustro de Santo Domingo.

Fira d'una Nit d'Estiu was organised by the Association of Artisans of Pollensa. It was an occasion for the local, hard-working shop owners, artists and crafts people to get together in a beautiful setting and spend an evening networking, relaxing with friends and of course drumming up business.

All around the gardens there were sections given over to different folk to display their goods. On show there was everything from metal work, furniture, textiles, woven basket work to jewellery and clothes. All of the work on display was from local artisans who were all there to discuss their work with any one that wanted to stop and chat.

A bar had been set up selling drinks and tapas and the evening was set to a very mellow, chilled dance soundtrack provided by a DJ who had been set up next to the fountain in the middle of the gardens. As the daylight faded the atmospheric lighting really came into its own, every artist having created their own vignette and all connected by rows of paper bags containing soft, flickering candle light.

It was a lovely, warm summer evening and the community really came together to celebrate the work of local craftspeople who are still keeping alive some of the oldest traditions on the island and some of the young, up and coming artists.
