If you were in Palma on Friday night, you might have wondered what was going at the Parque del Mar, in front of the Cathedral. A massive pair of inflatable legs stretched out from the centre of a dazzling stage complete with bright red heels.

It was the celebration of the 11th anniversary of Bar Flexas and part of the summer festivities of the Canamunt - Ciutat Antiga neighbourhood in Palma, which will be running activities for all ages every day until 18th July.

A huge crowds shrieked in anticipation of the international line up with included Celine Dion, Tina Turner, Madonna and Dolly Parton. Admittedly they were all drag artists and not the actual stars, but their lip syncing was very convincing.

Bar Flexas is a small restaurant bar with a big personality. The free event attracted huge crowds and gave a taster of the carnival atmosphere the bar is famous for. The theme was country - or cantri as they were calling it - and half naked cowboys were plentiful! There was nonstop entertainment from 20.30 to 3.00 in the morning, and the energy was brilliant.

The stage welcomed musicians, drag performances and some acrobatic pole dancing that wouldn't have looked out of place at the Cirque du Soleil. There was a mash up of music from country to techno, and a particularly hilarious rendition of Beyoncés 'Crazy in Love' in Spanish, by the popular drag artist La Terremoto de Alcorcón. The grand finale was particularly bonkers with a packed stage, manic dancing and a few members of the cast pulling off their trousers!

The bar was run with prepaid drink tickets, which made it really efficient. The atmosphere was upbeat and friendly, and in true Spanish style, there were all ages out enjoying the party. With the cathedral glowing in the background, palm trees all around us, and a cooling breeze coming in from the sea, the sizzling spirit of Summer in Mallorca was alive and kicking.
