Walking Routes in Mallorca

Don’t want to leave the water's side when holidaying in Mallorca? We don’t blame you. Here’s a lovely little beach walk for those wanting to stretch their legs whilst enjoying beach life on holiday. Ses Salines is located on the south-east coast of Mallorca. This is a summer walk which you can start from Ses Salines itself, or at the beach resort of Colonia de Sant Jordi.

Puigpunyent is located on the south-west of the island. This walk provides some magnificient scenery without having to leave the road, which goes from Capdellà to Puigpunyent. The route takes in a series of ascents and descents, and cuts across woods and fields, with different views at each curve of the road.

The Puig de Maria sits overlooking the town of Pollensa in the north-east of the island of Mallorca.

Behind the busy streets of Puerto Pollensa in North Mallorca lies the quiet and peaceful Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. These mountains form the stunning backdrop that many visitors will see when they come to Mallorca as the mountain range runs from the Southwest to Northeast of the island. Behind Puerto Pollensa lies a trail walk through a valley in these mountains to the rocky beach at Cala de Boquer.

The east coast of Mallorca is well worth exploring with its blue flag beaches, Llevant Natural Park and hiking trails for all levels. There are several signposted walks which can be accessed from both Cala Mesquida and Cala Agulla.

This lovely, short and relatively easy hike from Portals Vells to Cala Figuera Lighthouse makes it a contender for the best year-round walk in Mallorca. In this roundtrip, you get to admire the turquoise waters of Portals Vells, check out some historic caves, an old military base, a watchtower and a lighthouse. 

Camp de Mar is a purpose built beach resort with a really lovely beach, located on the south-west coast of Mallorca. This walk takes you along the coast and then over to Port Andratx, with an optional continuation to Sa Mola on the peninsula.

A beautiful 6km coastal hike in the north of Mallorca taking in stunning sea views, archaeological sites, deserted beaches, ecological areas and the occasional nudist.

It is common knowledge that in order to find the best views of anything, one needs to go up! I am certainly a firm believer in this theory and it was with this goal that I set out one Sunday afternoon to reach the top of the island!

Inca can be reached either by train from Palma or by car. If you go to Inca on a Thursday, you'll be able to enjoy one of Mallorca's biggest and best markets.

S'Albufereta is Mallorca’s third largest wetland area comprised of 211 hectares of protected park land as well as a further 290 hectares of surrounding land, which is semi-regulated so as not to adversely affect the nature park.

The Puig de Maria, more formally known as ‘Santuari de la Mare de Déu del Puig’ is a small hill that overlooks the town of Pollenca in the North of Mallorca.

Andratx is located in the south-west of Mallorca. From Andratx, the walk begins in the direction of S'Arracó, three kilometres away. A short rest in this delightful village gives you enough time for a visit to the parish church, where there is a statue of the Virgin "Our Lady of la Trapa".

The family was reunited and the sun was blazing as we left Soller for Fornalutx on the hunt for lunch.

Alaró is located in the foothills of the Tramuntana mountains, between Palma and Inca. The distance from Alaró to es Pouet is about 7km and the climb provides some beautiful views of the plain of Mallorca, as far as the city of Palma. 

When a post for the Mallorca Hiking Club popped up on Facebook on a miserable February day, it immediately grabbed my attention. My New Year's Resolution to get fit was but a distant memory, and this sounded too good an offer to pass up. I have always fancied mooching around the pretty part of Mallorca that I knew existed, but with a hopeless sense of direction, I was nervous to go off on my own in case I got lost and ended half way up a mountain in the middle of nowhere.

Valldemossa is located towards the west coast of Mallorca. The bus line to Valldemossa, Deia and Llucalcari allows access to some fantastic places of interest, the woods and mountains, and some tranquil coves to swim in.
