Hike from Valldemossa to Deia - Route of the Olive Trees

Great views along the west coast of Mallorca

Valldemossa is located towards the west coast of Mallorca. The bus line to Valldemossa, Deia and Llucalcari allows access to some fantastic places of interest, the woods and mountains, and some tranquil coves to swim in.

After visiting the Cartuja Charterhouse in Valldemossa and the town itself, you can walk to the hermitage "Ermita de la Trinidad" by taking a small path leading off from the main road to Deia, on the right-hand side (marked). After a brief climb you get to the hermitage, which was founded in 1705 and is an oasis of peace.

If instead of going towards Deià, you walk from the Son Moragues crossing towards Banyalbufar, you will soon see the road going down to the Port of Valldemossa, where there is a small, stony swimming cove. As the climb back up is fairly steep, it is advisable to leave enough time for your return. If you decide to go to Deià, you can go via Son Marroig country house and visit the Mirador which overlooks Na Forada.

After walking though the picturesque village of Deià, you can also go down to the lovely beach (just to the other side of the village) and have a swim in its incomparably clear water. The road down is steep and the climb up a difficult one.

The hamlet of Llucalcari, past Deià, is very charming and peaceful. There are a number of coves here, but they are not easy to access despite being very inviting for a swim between rocks and pine trees.
