This celebration commemorates the arrival of the Christian troops of Jaume I in Palma on the 31st of December 1229, after conquering the city from the Moors.

Celebrations start on the eve of the 31st, with a mass at Sant Miquel and Mare de Deu de la Salut churches and a tribute to King Jaume I. On the 31st there is a ceremony at Plaça Cort, in front of the Town Hall, presided over by the "Estendard" (the Royal Standard) and a portrait of Jaume I. There is then a parade to the Cathedral with traditional music and dancing, followed by a solemn mass.

This is one of the oldest celebrations in Mallorca, dating back to the 13th century.
