Mallorcan hotel chain, Hipotel, who are based in Cala Millor have been given permission to construct a high quality, four star hotel in one of Europe's most popular beach holiday destinations, Playa de Palma.

Playa de Palma is Mallorca's largest holiday resort and is a popular destination amongst Brits and German holidaymakers thanks to it's vast (4.5km) beach and plentiful choice of activities to enjoy. It has been the subject of a regeneration project for several years now as the local authorities enhance the promenade and encourage hotels to upgrade their facilities.

Hipotels will invest €50m in the project and will build the hotel on a 43,800 square meter plot. The hotel will be located towards the s'Arenal end of Playa de Palma and construction of the hotel is due to begin in October of this year. It is hoped that the hotel will be completed by March 2015 and be open for business that summer.

The new four star hotel will offer 150 suites and 230 large double bedrooms all of which will offer sea views. The hotel will have all the facilities you would expect, with a choice of restaurants and swimming pools, and conference and spa facilities. It is expected that the hotel will not operate on an all-inclusive basis and will be open all year round.

The Hipotel group already have 16 hotels and aparthotels in the east coast resorts of Mallorca, ranging from three to five stars, as well as hotels on mainland Spain and in Lanzarote.

Playa de Palma is only a short drive from both the airport and the city of Palma.
