The owners of a disused paintballing site in the small central town of Sineu are planning to turn the plot into a new dinosaur theme park.

Permission has been granted from the Sineu town council and now the project has been forwarded to the Consell de Mallorca for approval before developers can take the project further.

The theme park will feature dinosaurs that move and make sounds and visitors will be able to interact with the lifelike replica dinosaurs. The dinosaurs in Sineu will be made with environmentally friendly materials and be powered by solar panels attached to each model.

The developers are making an investment of €15,000 in order to prepare the grounds by creating parking areas and pathways for visitors to use whilst in the park. The project will have the final go ahead if the Consell de Mallorca decides there will be enough demand for the park.

Mallorca did have a dinosaur theme park in Algaida called Valley of the Dinosaurs but it appears to have closed down last year. This new dinosaur theme park attempt also comes hot on the heels of the wish of developers in Inca who wanted to open a 'Holy Land' theme park. All has gone quiet on that proposal...

Sineu is a 20 minute drive from Mallorca's second 'city' Manacor and developers hope to attract tourists and educational school trips to the park. Sineu is otherwise a typical rural Mallorcan town that holds a very popular and busy market on Wednesdays.
