Last year it was announced that the train in the Llevant area of Mallorca that travelled between Manacor and Arta would be discontinued and the railway turned into a greenway.

As it passes through a beautiful area of Mallorca the route has already been incredibly popular with walkers, cyclists and families. With no traffic to contend with it is a great spot for some dog walking or to go with young children

It is expected that the greenway corridor will be inaugurated at the end of the month, ensuring that the space will be maintained and cared for by the government, keeping it safe to use for pedestrians and cyclists. They are currently carrying out maintenance on the embankments with the inclusion of wire mesh to prevent accidental rock fall. Other measures will include better drainage systems and attention to neighbouring projects, including relocation of plantations. The pedestrian footbridge over the stream of Manacor is already finished.

So if you are looking for a place to go for a jog, stretch the legs on a bike or just have a wander through the beautiful natural landscapes of Mallorca then the greenway between Manacor and Arta could be worth a look!
