Pro-cyclists pedal to victory at Challenge Mallorca

The first race of the year, Mallorca Challenge, took place last weekend

This professional competition goes across some of the most beautiful sites on the island and is made up of four independent races, each taking place on a different day. This year they celebrated their 25th anniversary... Many happy returns!

On Thursday 28th, German rider André Greipel won the Felanitx - Ses Salines - Campos - Porreres Trophy; he also took first place on the Playa de Palma - Palma Trophy, a 161km course around the island's capital city. 2004 Tour de France champion Fabian Cancellara triumphed at the mountainous Serra de Tramuntana Trophy on Saturday 30th, while Italian Gianluca Brambilla came first at the Pollença - Andratx 153km race.

British legend Sir Bradley Wiggins was honoured this year. The three-times Olympic gold medallist rode as part of the Great Britain team in the 174km Fellanitx trophy, finishing in 135th place. He is currently getting ready to participate in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
