The town council of Escorca has decided to limit vehicle access to the beautiful beaches of Sa Calobra and Cala Tuent this summer by implementing paid parking areas. Frequent bus services will also be set up at some Mallorcan beaches to solve parking problems.

The remote beach of Sa Calobra, on the west coast of Mallorca, has become more and more popular over the years attracting lots of visitors coming by car or bus. Escorca town council has decided to set up a paid parking scheme at this beach as well as at the nearby cove of Cala Tuent to solve this problem. Stationing a vehicle here will cost 0.50€ for 30 minutes, 2€ for two hours and 5€ for a day.

Similar measures were taken last summer at the virgin beach of Es Trenc, on the south coast. This year, a project to revamp the beach's accesses and car parks has been presented.

Es Trenc also benefited from shuttle buses connecting Sa Rapita to Ses Covetes in 2016. A similar service has been announced for the wild beach of Cala Varques, and the beaches of Formentor, Playa de Muro, Son Real and Cala Mondragó. These shuttle lines will be paid for with money collected from the eco tax. Frequencies, routes and prices are yet to be revealed.
