Just like every summer, Queen Sofia has arrived on the island together with her grandchildren. On Monday, she took them wakeboarding in Port d'Alcudia, on the north of the island.

The Queen Mother never fails to spend part of her summer holidays in Mallorca. Here, she stays in Marivent Palace which has been closed to the public from the second week in July and will remain shut until the 15th of September. She has been joined by her oldest grandchildren, Felipe and Victoria Federica - children of Infanta Elena -, and Juan, Pablo, Miguel and Irene - children of Infanta Cristina.

This year they were seen wakeboarding at Mallorca Wakepark in Port d'Alcudia, around 60 kilometres from Marivent. Sofia always treats her grandchildren to a watersports experience, last year it was a sailing course at Port Calanova.

Kings Felipe and Letizia together with their daughters Leonor and Sofia will arrive on the island today. The monarch will meet the Balearic authorities on Friday and participate in the Copa del Rey Regatta this weekend aboard the Aifos yacht.
