Nestled between the 15th-century Gothic churches of Sant Jaume and Santa Magdalena's convent lies a wonderful 18th-century palace that has been lovingly converted into the luxury 5-star Sant Jaume boutique hotel. Even though its doors will not open until June 2017, we have been allowed a sneak peek inside and we can say it is nothing short of stunning!

Its sleek interiors combine natural materials such as stone, ceramics, tiles and wood with minimalist lines and an elegant palette where white, grey, beige and navy blue tones dominate. It all creates a stylish Mediterranean atmosphere that integrates perfectly with the historical building.

The hotel boasts 36 rooms, including the Sant Jaume suite, 6 junior suites -3 of them with terraces-, and 29 premium and deluxe rooms. They all come fully fitted with dressing gowns, slippers, top-quality Egyptian cotton sheets and towels, hair dryer and flat iron, LCD plasma TV, WiFi, music system, safe, and mini bar. Even iPads are available to all guests.

There is also a complete wellness area in the basement featuring a heated pool with jets, Finnish sauna, contrast shower, and a relaxation area with loungers. In the double cabin, they offer a wide variety of massages and treatments based on ancient philosophies and therapies but using the latest equipment and techniques, all performed with top-quality organic products.

Their 30 m2 fitness room has everything you need for a complete workout. For those who prefer to get some fresh air while exercising, they have devised a unique running route from which you can enjoy the best views of Palma and the sea. There is even the possibility of booking a personal trainer or yoga and pilates lessons.

However, the highlight of the hotel is undoubtedly its rooftop offering panoramic views of Palma's old town and cathedral. Relax on one of the sunloungers, take a plunge in the pool, book an open-air massage or enjoy a drink while soaking in the sunshine.

Sant Jaume will open its doors to the public in June. A very welcome addition to Palma, Europe's capital city for boutique hotels.
