La Vieja Restaurant
Tapas with a twist of the Canary Islands at this quirky restaurant
A vibrant restaurant by renowned chef Jonay Hernรกndez.
Here, head chef and owner Jonay Hernรกndez is imaginative with food, his concept is to creatively bring the Canary islands into tapas and use top quality products, add plenty of character to this quirky restaurant in Plaza Raimundo Clar.
Even the walls are adorned with graffiti! The cuisine is based on some of his childhood memories and on his personal growth as a chef in Mallorca.
Some of the chef's Canarian secrets include the homemade mojo picรณn sauce and the specific potatoes from the islands. Expect to find innovative dishes, like the โduo of roasted cheese tartlettes: 1. Truffle and palm honey 2. mojos cannelloni filled with Canarian โropa viejaโ. Ropa vieja is a Spanish phrase for shredded beef, chickpeas and tomatoes.
Thereโs a โloin of angus beef marinated in smoked mojo with crazy papas and majorero cheeseโ, plus the less spicy โsquid tartar, palm pepper sriracha and creamy shrimp mojoโ. For dessert, peeled potato (frangollo) with โbarraquitoโ cream with black soil, which is, of course, a nod to the classic volcanic soil of the Canaries.
