Mood Beach on Cloud 9 for the party of the year

Mood Beach Bar and Restaurant celebrated its 9th anniversary with a lavish party on Friday. Guests were greeted by sexy angels on horseback and treated to tasty blue Hawaiian cocktails in flutes rimmed with coconut flakes.

The lounge and terrace area had been transformed for the party, with white linen tablecloths and chairs draped in blue ribbons, echoing the dress code of blue and white. Cloud 9 was the theme of the evening, and cloud nine the feeling as guests enjoyed a night of delicious food and sizzling entertainment.

Mood Beach Club and Restaurant enjoy stunning sea views and is a great place for a sundowner. For their anniversary event, they took full advantage of their attractive venue with a barbeque and buffet. The €59 price tag was very reasonable considering the variety and quality of the food. A range of fresh salads, grilled vegetables, salmon and aromatic Thai curry were just some of the dishes from the buffet. While on the barbeque there was tender beef, sea bass and succulent langoustines. For dessert, I tucked into refreshing watermelon and a very generous slice of chocolate fudge cake.

Efficient staff in blue and white kept our wine glasses topped up and conversation flowed easily between guests, many of who were British residents of Mallorca. A live band headed by singers Rosa de Lima and Arthur Henson, who both star in Son Amar, played perfectly to their audience singing classics with a funky twist that set the party mood.

As the sun set, the magic of Son Amar lit up the stage. The cabaret-style show included a snake-like contortionist, a glittertastic Abba medley and a rendition of Michael Jackons' Thriller with lots of leather and attitude. A flamenco show followed, heels beating out an exciting rhythm, the passionate dancers enthralling spectators with their poise and control. The audience demonstrated their appreciation with hearty applause and the organisers took a moment to thank and congratulate everyone who had worked so hard to make it such a great night.

At midnight, guests headed inside for Latin music and plenty of salsa dancing. Friday at Mood Beach is a popular haunt for salsa lovers and I'll definitely be coming again to dance the night away. The anniversary celebration was a success, showcasing the very best that Mood has to offer, from beautiful sea views, great atmosphere, delicious food and faultless service.
