Mulligan’s Irish Bar – good food, British beer, live music, live sport and 6 flavours of pork cracking. What more could you ask for?

Puerto Pollenca isn’t the hottest spot on the map for night life in Mallorca but if you know where to look you can still manage to find a good night out, and if that’s what you’re looking for then Mulligan’s Irish Bar has to be a stop on your itinerary.

Located just off the busy main square of Puerto Pollenca, Mulligan’s is a lively, friendly spot that prides its self on having actually Irish management (unlike other ‘Irish’ bars in the area). The staff are friendly and welcoming and will make you feel like you’re in your home town local in no time.

Popular with tourists and the British ex-pat community alike this bar specialises in making Brits feel at home, serving British ales such as Hobgoblin, London Pride and Badger Tanglefoot. Guinness is on the menu of course and Strongbow and Magners for your cider fix. The food menu is full of homey favourites like chip buttys, teacakes, scones and massive English breakfasts. The incredible menu of 6 different flavours of pork crackling, (some might say that pork crackling has no place being salt and vinegar, madras or BBQ flavoured) but for those people, they have traditional as well.

It's not the cheapest place in town so you might want to head here during Happy Hour which runs from 1-6pm every day when some pints drops from €4.80 to €3.50 and a generic spirit and mixer will cost you €5 instead of €6. A large glass of wine is always €6 and sangria €5 and if you want to you can get a pitcher of Mulligan’s Cocktail for €15, shots are surprisingly cheap and you can get Jaeger Bombs here, and we all love Jaeger Bombs!

Sports is the main aim of the game here and Mulligan’s strives to show as much of it as they can. They have two TVs inside the air conditioned interior and also a big screen showing out through the window to the seating area outside, allowing you to get your sports fill without giving up your time in the sun. The extensive timetable of sport to be shown is displayed on their chalk boards outside and they’re not picky about what it is, rugby, football, cycling, UFC, tennis, cricket, darts, they’ll play whatever’s on and if you don’t see your game of choice on the boards feel free to ask at the bar if they can add it to the itinerary and they will if they can.

In the evenings the vibe changes and Mulligan’s becomes a live music venue, with a rota of local talent on their books they host bands and artists four nights a week; on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday the pro’s do their thing and then on Monday’s it’s all down to you! Open mike night is on every Monday, where anyone who wants to can get up and perform anything they wish, music, poetry, comedy what ever you fancy and if you’re brave enough to get up there then there’s a free drink in it for you afterwards. Live music and open mike nights all start at 9.30pm and draw a friendly, welcoming crowd.

Open all week from 10am until 2am (this changes in the winter months) Mulligan’s is your best of British spot at any time of the day, stop in for breakfast or lunch or tea and cake, sit on the terrace and watch the world go by. On busy Wednesday market days, grab a pint after the beach, drinks before dinner or head here at night and soak up the music and atmosphere until the early hours and make the most of their €1 shot menu!
