Cycling Routes in Mallorca

A cycling tour with Mills and Honey isn't just about cycling, it's about immersing yourself in the landscape, culture and flavours of the island. 

Starting and finishing in Port de Soller this ride has a half way point in Cala Deia where you ahve the chance to stop for some lunch, a snack or even a dip in the sea to cool off.

An easy route more suited to someone with a bit of road cycling experience due to the nature of the hills and busy roads.

A flat road cycle but at a distance of 60km this could be a long ride for a beginner so be prepared!

Palma is a really bike friendly city. The giveaway is the prominent red cycle route running all along the Paseo Maritimo and through the city centre. The weather is perfect for it too. Despite the obvious benefits of urban exploration on two wheels, Palma on Bike was my first experience of cycling in the capital. 

Although parts of this route can be tricky to negotiate for the less seasoned bikers it is worth the effort to enjoy the beautiful beaches.

An easy ride that is ideal for hobby cyclists who have hired a bike for the day or for a road cyclist wanting to get off the busy main roads. Not exactly a shortcut but this ride takes you from Puerto Pollenca to Pollensa via the more quiet and scenic parts of North Majorca.

Combining nature, bird spotting and a bit of exercise with a cycle round the nature reserve by the holiday resort of Puerto Alcudia.

An intermediate route for those used to climbing steeper sections of road on a bike, with stunning views of the coastline.

22km point to point but a longer day out at 44km if you do the return journey by bike instead of catching the bus.

Cycling from Port de Soller along the coast and through Deia, you will then travel on to Valldemossa before heading back inland and finishing over the Coll de Soller.

A great way to explore this part of the coast and easy enough for the whole family to enjoy...especially with beach breaks along the way.

The road to Sa Calobra is one of the reasons so many cyclists come to Mallorca. With an average gradient of 7% (maximum gradient is 12%) and a height gain of 668m over 9.4km it is sure to test the most professional thighs.

On Saturday we hired bikes and set off on a hot afternoon to explore the beaches of Palma Bay. A shoreline cycle path runs from the northern end of Palma docks all the way to the resort S’Arenal in the south.

The southern end of the Sierra Tramuntana does not have the epic climbs of the north, however this rolling ride provides no less than six different summits as well as some of Mallorca's most scenic roads.

Mallorca is well known as a road biking haven, with lots of pro teams training on the beautiful roads during the cooler months of the year. The mountainous terrain coupled with the beautiful and varied coastline provides some great climbs with phenomenal views. The relatively short ride from Puerto Pollensa to the Cap de Formentor is a great example of this, with panoramic views of the bay rewarding the short climb from town.

A nice quiet route, if you stay away from the main roads and enjoy these resorts in a more laid back fashion.

100,000 cyclists cannot be wrong. Mallorca is one of the most popular and idyllic islands for cycling with it's plentiful flat farm roads and challenging hill climbs.
