Short but challenging ride on the Alcudia peninsula in the north west
An intermediate route for those used to climbing steeper sections of road on a bike, with stunning views of the coastline.
The cycle route commences outside the tourist office in Alcúdia from where you head briefly towards the Puerto de Alcúdia. There are two ways to reach the port, take the right turn on to Carrer Pollentia and then right on to Carrer de Xara.
Continue along this road through Mal Pas, which follows around the coast, for the remainder of the ride. You will pass by the hostel of La Victoria, a picnic spot, and continue to follow the road until you reach the hermitage. An alternative is to continue on to the end of road which takes you to the very end of the peninsula.
From the hermitage, you may climb up on foot to the Atalaya (a scenic viewpoint), which is about an hour's walk. You can continue by bicycle, but only with a mountain bike, as the track is steep and very stony. For the return journey you continue back along the same road. Once you reach Mal Pas, don't turn left, but carry straight on along the road Camí de l'Hort des Moro, which will take you a different route back to Alcúdia. There are a couple of small beaches here if you would to have a stop for refreshments and a swim.
