Palmanova to Santa Ponsa Cycling Route

Easy cycle route through the quieter areas of the south west resorts

A nice quiet route, if you stay away from the main roads and enjoy these resorts in a more laid back fashion.

You leave from the beach in Palma Nova going in the direction of Magaluf. Follow Carrer Germans Pinzon onto Av. Olivera and on to Carrer Gongora. At the Pirates Adventure theatre, take Carrer Quevedo which is a quieter road than the main Cami Porrassa. At the end of this road, take a left on to Cami Cala Figuera which takes you through Poniente Golf Club. A nice detour to a remote beach is Portal Vells - it is signposted.

You can ride on to El Toro and the brand new and swanky Port Adriano. Here you will find gorgeous yachts, cafes and restaurants, and family fun during the summer months. If you bypass Port Adriano, the road takes you directly into Santa Ponsa where you will find a lovely beach and plenty of refreshment stops.

The return journey may be made by the same route or along the main road, but beware, as this is heavily trafficked.

Points of interest: This area is renowned for its beaches, and its rural surroundings make for a peaceful ride. La Caleta in Santa Ponsa is where you'll find a monument commemorating the Reconquest of Mallorca in 1229. There is a lovely view of Malgrat Isle and Conill Isle from a well-placed mirador.

Itinerary: Palmanova - Santa Ponça
Distance: 25 km there and back
Difficulty: Quiet roads with some sharp bends, bikes with gears recommended
