Cala Millor to Porto Cristo Cycling Route

Beaches galore on this easy east coast bike meander

Imprint
Updated

A great way to explore this part of the coast and easy enough for the whole family to enjoy...especially with beach breaks along the way.

Set off from Cala Millor by following Carrer dels Baladres towards S'Illot. When you reach the main road of Avinguda les Palmeres, take a left then a right on to Avinduda de les Savines. You can stop off at the Talayotic settlement of S'Illot (Carrer Llebeig 3), which has a visitor centre and is also just one street away from the beach.

Continue along Avinguda de Les Savines. Once you have crossed the stream Torrent Can Amer, continue towards Cala Morlanda - Porto Cristo. There is a cycle lane when you reach the main road PMV-4023 to Porto Cristo. Porto Cristo has a great harbour with a good selction of restaurants, a lovely beach and is also home to some spectacular underground caves that are really worth a visit.

At this point you may return and continue along the coast, although the roads are not paved, or you can return along an inland route via Son Carrio, a small traditional Mallorcan village.

However, by choosing this route you shall have to make the journey along the main road which is very busy, particularly during the summer season. An alternative would be to explore the headland of Punta de N'Amer by heading back to Sa Coma. The route through the headland provides an off-road cycling experience along a rough track.

Points of interest: The beaches in the area provide a good excuse to stop and take a refreshing dip! In Porto Cristo you should not miss the Aquarium, The Caves of Drach and the Caves of Hams, which give the visitor a unique opportunity of exploring the underground marvels of the Island.

Itinerary: Cala Millor - Sa Coma - Cala Morlanda - Porto Cristo
Distance: 24 km
Difficulty: Easy flat coastline ride
