A British holidaymaker, named as Paul Newman, has died after falling from a hotel balcony in Magaluf. Mr Newman was on holiday in Majorca with two friends when they returned to their hotel after a night out. Police have said that the victim fell from the sixth floor.

Reports say that the group arrived at their hotel, the Royal Beach Hotel in Magaluf at around 5am on Saturday morning. Police say that they went upstairs to their rooms, but somehow missed their rooms on the fourth floor, and that Mr Newman had leaned over a stairwell on the sixth floor in an attempt to locate their rooms. It seems that he lost his balance and fell, and was killed instantly on landing on the ground floor.

An autopsy is now being performed on the body.
