On 11th and 12th June one of the prettiest towns in Mallorca will once again celebrate the fruit that put them on the map.

During the Orange Fair the centre of Soller will be buzzing with activity as visitors come to find out just how versatile the orange can be. There will be cooking demonstrations, workshops, guided tours and a special citrus-inspired tapas route.

A number of workshops for children and adults will kick off on Saturday 11th June, at 11.00 at Plaça Constitució and Carrer Sa Luna. These aren't all orange themed however! Workshops will cover photography, painting, making recycled necklace and there will also be a story telling session.

At 12.00 there will be a guided tour on 'Soller's Orange Exports' by +Cultura. Advanced booking is required. Contact 639628440 / 667688998. Soller has been exporting oranges since as far back as 1788 which is the date of the first known official export document. Its orange groves remain a highlight to this day.

The Tapas and Pintxos Route 'Amb Citrics' begins at 20.00 and challenges chefs to give their tapas a citrus twist. The participating bars and restaurants will be signposted. To enter a competition to win a dinner for two, Instagrammers should post a picture of their favourite tapas and use the hashtag #FiraTaronja16.

The celebrations will continue into the night with live music and local DJS in the Plaça Constitució from 22.00.
The official launch of the fair takes place on Sunday 12th June, the following day. From 10.00 there will be cooking demonstrations and a fair selling local produce and artisan goods. At 11.00 there will be a workshop on how to use oranges in decoration. Music by local musicians at 12.30 and traditional dance at 18.00 will add typical Mallorcan favour to the proceedings.

The orange fair will be promoting a special €23 menu, with over twenty restaurants and hotels participating in Soller, Port de Soller and Fornalutx. This set menu dedicated to the orange will be available until 25th June.
The menu can be linked to reduced prices on the train and tram. If you take a day return trip from Palma on the train, use the tram and then have lunch in a participating restaurant the price is 38€. Excellent value for money!
