Nikki Beach Mallorca Review

New beach menu shines bright for Summer 2017

featured in Restaurant reviews Author Jose Rains, Mallorca Reporter Updated

Nikki Beach's name has become synonymous as THE go-to beach club in some of the most prestigious destinations around the world, and we're lucky enough to have one right here, in southern Mallorca.

This smart establishment is famous not only for for its day parties, but it also has a well-earned reputation as a culinary haven.

Last Thursday the season officially started as Nikki Beach opened its doors for the first time in 2017 and the following day I headed over there to enjoy a leisurely lunch with a friend who was visiting from London. We grabbed a taxi from Palma de Mallorca to the beach club which is located on Calvia beach, just 15 minutes drive away (20€ taxi). You'll find plenty of yachts anchored in the bay here, with their occupants soaking up the glorious scenery and lively atmosphere of the area.

Once inside the ultramodern looking building, we were greeted by some immaculately dressed and extremely friendly hostesses, who took us out outside to the main beach club area. You can’t help but be impressed with the Nikki Beach signature all white modern décor, which is combined with bamboo and other exotic wood to create a really stylish and chic ambience. Large numbers of staff, dressed in their crisp white uniforms are poised and ready to provide you some of the best service on the island.

We were escorted to our table located in a sophisticated wooden dining terrace, the perfect position to gaze out to the idyllic white sandy beach and sea and also for people watching. Sitting above the swimming pool offers a great viewing platform to watch the glitzy and glamorous groups of girls and guys donning their best beachwear whilst gathering around the plush sun loungers, drinks in hand. The DJ of course takes prime position in his booth above the pool, whilst effortlessly controlling the tempo with his beach club tracks.

You are spoilt for choice when it comes to both food and drinks at Nikki Beach, which has a wide variety of popular international cuisines on offer, including Italian, Mexican, Asian, Caribbean, Japanese and so much more. These can be combined with some scrumptious cocktails, beer, wine and of course champagne. There is a separate restaurant menu for dining in the main restaurant areas and a pool menu, which is tailored to be more sun lounger friendly and offers some rather extravagant platters, perfect for larger groups.

To kick off our gastronomical experience, we indulged in some mouth-watering Mojitos served in tall glasses alongside fresh bread, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For starters we chose the Makimono Saint Barth Salmon Sushi Rolls which were absolutely dreamy. They comprised of fresh salmon, avocado, cucumber, chives, cream cheese, smoked salmon and ikura. They were freshly made and the cream cheese certainly gave them the wow factor I was looking for.

For main course (which was for me the star of the show) we enjoyed a rather impressive looking Mediterranean Dorada, which brought us back to our Mediterranean setting. Although there was certainly a Nikki Beach twist thanks to its pristine presentation and use of the finest produce; evident in the sizeable white fish laid to rest on some creamy mash and grilled vegetables. I was blown away by the natural flavours of the firm yet flaky fish, which was complimented only by a wedge of lemon.

To finish off, we treated ourselves to the Famous Key West Lime Pie which ended our Friday feast on the perfect note. The zingy lime mousse, covered a crunchy biscuit base and was served with a gooey meringue and Chantilly cream. The flavours were sublime and gave a much needed sugar rush to perk us up for the afternoon.

Whilst it is famous for its energetic parties down by the pool, the restaurant set up definitely offers a family friendly side to Nikki Beach. I am looking forward to what this world famous brand has in store for us this summer. Be sure to attend one of their upcoming parties including the annual White Party, the Circus Party, their new Amazing Sundays Champagne Brunches and their infamous season closing Red Party.
