Will there ever be an end to Rafa Nadal's rule over clay? Mallorca's most legendary tennis player brought another Roland Garros trophy home to the island last Sunday after defeating Dominic Thiem 6-4, 6-3, 6-2.

It was a relatively easy victory for Rafa Nadal on Sunday as he faced Austrian Thiem on the Philippe Chatrier court. This was his 17th Grand Slam singles title and a record-breaking 11th win at Roland Garros, tied only with Margaret Court's performance for singles. The King of Clay is currently ranked world number 1 by the ATP.

Born in Manacor, a rural town in central Mallorca in 1986, Nadal is undoubtedly the island's most celebrated sportsman. He has opened a prestigious sports centre in his hometown where the future stars of the Mallorcan sports constellation are currently being trained. This complex even includes a residence, a spa and a museum.
