Rafa Nadal wins 10th Roland Garros

The Mallorcan made history yesterday

Mallorca is celebrating their most famous sportsmen 10th Roland Garros cup. Rafa Nadal won yesterday what he described as "the perfect Roland Garros" as he did not drop a single set during the championship.

Born in Manacor, Nadal made history this Sunday when he became the first man to win a grand slam event 10 times. He beat Stan Wawrinka in three sets: 6-2, 6-3 and 6-1.

Nadal is very attached to his hometown of Manacor; here he has not only opened an academy for budding tennis players but also a sports centre, residencespa and museum.

The island hosts all sorts of events, including agricultural fairs in the spring and autumn, live music and DJs in the summer, religious fiestas and international sporting events. Some of the most popular are the Mallorca 312 cycling race in April, the Copa del Rey sailing regatta in July and the Moors vs Christians mock battle in September.
