Nikki Beach Circus Party Review

On Saturday 30th July, I prepared myself for a day of debauchery with clowns, circus performers and water balloon fights at Nikki Beach’s Circus Party. We arrived just before 2pm, dressed in our finest beach attire for a late lunch (almost an hour after the doors opened) welcomed by impressive decorations, circus acts and staff dressed in costumes in line with the theme.

You could instantly see why this place is a regular haunt for the beautiful, rich and famous. Everything was extremely tasteful and the attention to detail was phenomenal. Families and friends were either having lunch in one of the two dining terraces or sunning themselves on the luxury sun loungers with magnums of champagne, vodka, wine and jugs of sangria.

Before lunch, we headed to the cocktail bar and ordered a couple of rounds of cocktails to kick off the afternoon. A friendly Canadian bar tender called Sheldon was extremely helpful in advising which of the many cocktails to choose from (prices averaged around 15€), but we decided to go for refreshing Classic Mojitos all round. 

Being in the middle of the beach club between one of the dining terraces and the pool, we felt we were in prime position with a view of the whole establishment and also the sea where yachts were anchoring for the afternoon. It was a great spot to absorb the atmosphere whilst sipping on scrumptious cocktails and listen to the DJ spin beach club tracks. Within an hour we had seen various acts from dancers dressed as raunchy clowns, a lady on stilts and a hula hoop girl performing around the pool area.

Our table was ready by 2.30pm and we sat down in some much needed shade, as it was over 30 degrees at this point. We were handed an extensive menu with cuisines from all around the world, this place certainly had something for everyone with salads and steak sandwiches to Sushi. Whilst the ‘Nikki Beach Famous Sushi & Ceviche boat’ (250€) looked very tempting between the 5 of us. Having had a late breakfast, we were modest with a couple of portions of ‘Grilled Quesadillas’ each (18€) and ‘Tiger Shrimp Tacos’ (24€) for three. All very tasty and ideal for sharing. We ordered a couple of bottles of the Paco y Lola (41€) white wine to wash the food down with. Everything was delicious and couldn’t be faulted. For me, the guy playing a violin to the music was a real highlight. He added so much value to the dining experience. 

Throughout lunch, we noticed the atmosphere changing from a chilled beach club vibe to more of a party with parades and theatre taking place for the bottle shows whilst people were dancing around their sun loungers. At 3.30pm a champagne spray and water fight marked the start of a real party atmosphere. 

We actually bumped into some friends and joined them on their table and sun loungers for the afternoon, and stayed sipping on Rose wine until the music stopped at 8pm. In the early evening, the place was absolutely heaving, there was a real buzz and friendly atmosphere as people mingled in their sun lounger areas, on tables, by the bar or in the swimming pool.

Nikki Beach certainly delivered the Circus Party of all circus parties and brought out the child in us all. I am already looking forward to my next trip to the beach club! If you fancy a trip, make sure you book well in advance for lunch or sunbeds for the day to avoid disappointment.
