Banana Club: The Nightlife Hotspot for The North of Mallorca

A night out at the Banana Club in Port d'Alcudia

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Anita Gait, Mallorca Reporter Updated

If you are looking for nightlife in the north of Mallorca then the Banana Club in the Port of Alcudia is an absolute must on your party location list. The closest thing the north has to the endless party that is Magaluf; Banana club is a chaos of late night action, theme parties, drink promos, podium dancers and D.Js.

Located a fair walk from the Port towards Ca’n Picafort, the Banana Club complex is easily spotted by the glass pyramid that rises above the club, situated in a consumer complex made up of fast food joints and pre-party bars. The Alcudia – Ca’n Picafort bus can drop you off directly outside but be warned that the doors don’t open until 22.30pm and the party doesn’t really get started until much later. The area surrounding the club has plenty of bars to keep you occupied until then or you can make the Banana club the last stop on a meandering walk from the port calling in at any of the numerous bars and restaurants that line the main street along the way.

Open since 2008 this club is the hot spot for Alcudia’s nightlife and is almost always the after party location for any of the big events occurring on the beach or in the town. Banana Club sponsored the World Beach Volleyball tournament on Port D’Alcudia beach and hosted the nightly beach parties and after party in the club, they were similarly visible at the World Beach Rugby competition and at Ironman Mallorca.

No stranger to a theme party these guys go all out for their events and host several different themes each week including weekly foam parties plus neon nights, pirate take overs, flower power parties, pyjama nights, circus themes and basically any idea that can involve a costume and wacky accessories, this place has made a night around it. Sometimes just for fun they throw a couple of themes together and throw a combination party like their downright messy Foam and Paint party. The events come with appropriately outfitted bar staff and dancers, special drinks promotions, merchandise giveaways and you’re generally a shoe-in for a free drink if you turn up in costume. Official club photographers wander the crowds and if you pose properly (or downright improperly) you could find yourself featuring on their facebook page or in one of their club videos.

Non-event nights are still good for a party as the club has a never ending flow of customers and the dance floor always seems to collect a crowd. The entry fee is €8-€10 depending on your V.I.P status, and comes with a drink or two.

The club is made up of several different areas including huge dance floor, V.I.P area, numerous bars including cocktail bar, large outdoor terrace and smoking area, table service is available at the seating areas and the bars take cash and credit card. Limited street parking is available in the surrounding area and taxis can always be found in the streets outside the bar.

A few things to be aware of; the queue forming outside the door is not necessarily indicative of how busy the club is inside, the free drinks you are offered may not have the highest alcoholic content and the drinks that you buy will come with a higher price tag than in a regular bar, (cocktails will cost you €7-€10 and up). Popular with the teenagers and large crowds this is a club for dancing hard and getting your foam party on, if that’s not what you’re looking for then maybe head elsewhere.

Open every night from 22.30 – 06.00 this is your late night party venue, check the facebook page for upcoming events, then get there late, stay late and enjoy the fast food outlets handily located on your way home.

Drink responsibly!
