South Mallorca Hidden Gems Tour
Self-driving tour along the South East coast of Mallorca
This is a different way to enjoy a quality guided tour with your own car, and discover little-known hidden places hand in hand with a local guide using portable radios whilst you drive.
Covering a route of around 97km, on this 5 hour tour (plus 30 minute briefing) you can explore the South East coast of Mallorca on a scheduled route through the municipality of Llucmajor, with several stops and visits where you can learn about different cultural, gastronomic and landscape values.
The portable radio devices use a private frequency, are easy to install and use and are bidirectional - allowing all the vehicles to interact with each other as well as listening to the different commentaries of the Driveando guides.
You will be driving along the south east coast, stopping off at Faro de Es Cap Blanc: a place with amazing views from the cliffs, and while you sample delicious ensaimada the guide will explain the difficult life of the lighthouse keepers and introduce you to the world of a very peculiar figure, Mr Jan March. Next you will head to the Salt Marshes Flor de Sal d'es Trenc to learn how these marshes function and produce different types of salt, ending with a selection of Quelita biscuits and cheese. Then onto Astestruz, a wonderful agro-poultry farm owned by the same family for 20 years, where ostriches are the main attraction, and finally you will head to Burguera's Dairy to discover the only dairy farm in Mallorca where they make all their own cheese, you will meet the cows and taste their produce as you learn about these artisan cheesemakers.
The trip finishes in Sa Rapita, next to the Playa d'es Trenc.
The tour has two departure times and you will need to provide your own vehicle and petrol.
Meeting point: Repsol Petrol station SON OMS. End point: Sa Rapita.

-
Museu Diocesa
This small museum of religious and historical antefacts is based in a wing of the former episcopal palace tucked behind the cathedral.
-
Parc de la Mar
Until the 1960s the sea reached up to the city walls, providing the perfect reflection for the cathedral. When the building of a new road changed all that, an artificial lake was constructed to reproduce the effect.
