Finca Mondragó S'amarador Villa
6 bedroom Villa in Cala Mondrago, Santanyi, Mallorca. Sleeps 12
From such a privileged position, snuggled between two of Mallorca’s most esteemed sandy coves (Cala Mondragó and Cala S’Amarador), this resplendent country home is immersed in the pure, natural setting of the legendary Mondragó National Park, abundant in local fauna and shady pine trees that provide a welcomed respite from the midday sun.
This waterfront location is further enhanced by two picturesque beaches just steps away: to one side, a gentle 5-minute stroll takes you to the fine, white sands of Cala Mondragó, where crystalline, shallow waters create the perfect setting for snorkelling, while the inviting aromas of a small beach bar (chiringuito) drift from the sand nearby. A walk in the opposite direction leads to the quieter yet equally stunning Cala S’Amarador. Here, sailboats and schooners drift in and out of the bay, offering an idyllic panorama long praised by guidebooks and travellers alike. Both beaches hold the prestigious Blue Flag Award for their pristine waters, are wheelchair friendly, and have a lifeguard on duty during the high season.
The gentle sound of the sea lapping against the rocks sets the tone for this retreat—one of relaxation, where the pace of life slows, and the fresh sea air fills the senses. Narrow, shrub-lined paths wind through the spacious grounds, leading to a charming crazy-paved terrace that boasts spectacular views across the bay, complemented by a refreshing sea breeze.
The front façade, typical of the region, features solid stone archways and symmetric cornerstones, with wooden shutters adding the perfect finishing touches to the picturesque view. At the centre of it all is a grand wooden door, which leads into the imposing entrance hall. Inside, spacious bedrooms and generous areas for groups to gather create a warm, welcoming holiday vibe. A recent interior refurbishment has beautifully transformed the space, incorporating four-poster beds, vibrant fabrics, and a chic blend of raffia and distressed wood finishes. The main house includes four bedrooms (one with external access only), while a separate, hidden-away annexe offers two additional twin bedrooms and a kitchenette, perfect for those desiring a bit more independence from the rest of the group.
The historic town of Santanyi, with its fortified city walls and Porta Murada gate, is a foodie’s paradise filled with art galleries, cobbled streets, shaded plazas, and boutique shops. The weekly market is a lively contrast to the peaceful atmosphere of Finca Mondragó S’Amarador, which is just minutes away.
The string of rocky coves and sandy inlets along the south-east coast of Mallorca are all within easy reach. Whether you’re interested in a boat trip to Cabrera Island, horse riding through the nature reserve’s sandy paths, or exploring one of its popular hiking trails, there’s plenty to keep the active entertained. However, if you prefer, you might find yourself content with a simpler day—perhaps a short trip to the local supermarket to stock up, then retreating to one of the sun terraces or your own private mirador, with a good book and a chilled glass of rosé in hand.
