Cala Romantica is a picturesque cala with turquoise water and golden sand on the east coast of Mallorca. 

Also known as Platja de Sa Ràpita, an alternative to Es Trenc is the beautiful neighbouring beach at S’Arenal de sa Rapita in the southeast of Majorca. It is much quieter than Es Trenc, and is popular with families, surfers and windsurfers.

Els Calderers is a manor house situated between Vilafranca and Sant Joan. The house was once at the centre of a large wine estate but like so many others in Mallorca, it fell victim to the phylloxera disease. Reopened in 1993, the 18th-century house is now a museum of Mallorcan furniture and traditions. Set in beautiful countryside, this is a lovely place to spend a few hours.

Perched high on a ridge in Mallorca’s countryside and surrounded by old stone windmills, the sleepy village of Montuiri is probably the most impressive sight on the road between Palma and Manacor.

The small rural town of Petra lies in the middle of Mallorca, surrounded by agricultural land.

Sitting between Llucmajor and Santanyi, it’s a mere 8km away from the coast. Constructed from the famous local blonde stone, Campos is rather pretty and, whilst it remains a sleepy rural place, it acts as the administrative centre for this corner of the island which is most famous for its long sandy beaches and turquoise waters.
